Hmmm...Jan...
Those who met Jan at The Haven know that one would find it almost impossible to offer her a description...
Jan was many things...Loyal, a food seeker, happy and a puppy at heart!
She came to us in a bad condition, very thin and on pain killers. After her first meal (and
torsion leading to an operation) she made a full recovery! No more pain killers, energetic and rearing to go for a new start in life, a second chance...
For the short time Jan filled our home with joy she reminded us why we take on the burdening task of helping animals in need. I was one of the people that was not really keen on Jan to begin with. I grew fond of her as she evolved into a totally different dog once cared for and having placed her trust in someone. Now, not feeding her 3 times per day separately, not having to put the rubbish bin up on the
kitchen counter and not having her beg for food at the table makes the Haven seem empty and lifeless.
She is dearly missed by all of us and I especially wish to thank my mum, Gayner, for saving her...Lisa, Jan’s personal volunteer
behaviorist for all the advice, it really was working:-) and Peggy, Jan’s sponsor for believing in her.
With all my love and support to all those who have lost animals to poisoning,
Kerenza
